2025: The Year of the A.I. Robot?

Haven't we seen this movie already?

This week we’re looking into the future.

Imagine humanoid robots, AI brains, and self-driving techno-dogs with guns….

Oh, no wait. That’s 2025. Or at least the hyper marketing of prototypes on social media is certainly here and they’re impressive.

And honestly? I’m not sure how I feel about it right now. If these don’t look like military hardware, I don’t know what is.

On a slightly less dreary note, if there is a World War III, it’s looking more like armies of droids fighting each other for the most part.

Sure, A.I. bots could make life easier, create abundance, and reshape industries (let’s not look too hard at the sausage factory of how…). But they could also do what they’ve done before - disrupt jobs, upend entire sectors, and leave people scrambling to adapt in a much shorter time frame than ever before.

The pace of change is overwhelming, even for someone like me, who’s interested and even for Jamie who’s been following this stuff closely for years. And that’s my concern: are we ready for this?

If you didn’t know, Jamie’s company is Autonomat.io and he is working with companies to build out the software side of this revolution to the workplace. If Jamie is finding it hard to keep up with - I find that a bit concerning.

Are we thinking about how to protect workers, communities, and even the human agency in the face of so much disruption? Or are we just letting the tech elite steer us toward an unknown future?

Are we being worrywarts? What do you think?

It’s a lot to unpack and I accept Jamie and I probably sounded more bewildered in this episode than informative but this is where the conversation is headed. So if you’re ready to think critically about robots, AI, and the future of work - or just want to hear about some seriously weird tech innovations, have a listen.

Resistance might be futile, but trying to pick apart which bits are hype, marketing, market testing and genuinely useful innovation is important.
